About Grizzly Junk Pros

Started in Stamford with one box truck in 2014. Two depots today, designed the Grizzly Bag in-house after running the Bagster collection contract, and built the company on the boring stuff: pick up the phone, quote up front, show up when you said you would.

Justin Hubbard, owner of Grizzly Junk Pros

I'm Justin Hubbard. I own Grizzly Junk Pros — legally Stamford Junk Pros LLC, dba Grizzly Junk Pros. This is the page where I explain who we are, where we came from, and what we actually do — without the marketing layer.

After a couple of failed entrepreneurship attempts post-college — including a startup or two that didn't pan out — I was building a business plan for a cleaning service that would also handle junk removal as a side offering. The more I researched it, the clearer it became that junk removal alone had real demand and almost no competition that did it right. So I dropped the cleaning side and went all-in on junk removal.

I grew up in Stamford, Connecticut, and the local support was immediate and real. We started in 2014 with one box truck and honestly no clue what we were doing. The first months were rough — we picked up scrap metal for free just to keep the truck on the road and stay in front of as many people as possible. Every year the business grew a little. Relationships with clients deepened. We started helping more families with cleanouts, more contractors with debris, more renovators with project waste.

The Grizzly Bag came out of a contract we had with Waste Management collecting their Bagster product for about two years. We interacted with every customer who used a Bagster — and we saw the same pain points over and over. The shape was wrong for most jobs. The size cap was frustrating. Customers wanted something that fit their reality better. So I took it on myself: outsourced prototypes to a manufacturer in China, went through three iterations, and landed on the 8-cubic-yard box-shape Grizzly Bag. We tested with existing clients, got overwhelming positive feedback, placed a real order, and never looked back. We dropped the Waste Management contract and now run the bag service entirely in-house — better serves our communities, better customer experience, every conversation goes through us.

The whole point of this business isn't transactional. It's relational. Our goal is genuine engagement, good communication, full transparency throughout the entire process — never leaving anyone wondering what's going on. That's the only way to actually build something that lasts: real relationships, real service, real follow-through.

“As a family business, we focus on eco-friendly junk removal backed by real customer service. What sets us apart is the range — steel roll-off rentals, our own Grizzly Bags product, and same-day full-service junk hauling. Few CT companies do all three; we built around being the one that does. Grateful for your support, and looking forward to handling whatever junk you need gone.”

What we actually do

Four services, run as the same operation:

  • Roll-off dumpster rentals in 10, 15, 20, and 30/40-yard sizes. Up-front pricing — $447 to $899 by size. Delivery, pickup, dumping at a licensed transfer station, and a 7-day rental window included. The right tool when you have a multi-day project, you can do the loading, and the volume is bigger than a bag.
  • Full-service junk removal — we bring the truck and crew, you point at the pile, we load and haul. Pricing is by truck space used, not by item, on a 13-tier ladder from $145 (minimum load) to $795 (full 20-cubic-yard truck). Confirmed before any loading starts. The right tool when you don't want to load, the access is awkward, or the job is small to medium.
  • Grizzly Dumpster Bags — the 8-cubic-yard flexible dumpster we designed in-house after the Bagster contract. $59 with delivery, $269 collection, $299 combo. The right tool when 8 cubic yards is enough, your driveway can't host a roll-off for a week, or the project is staged across weekends.
  • Demolition — standalone outbuildings only. Sheds, detached garages, decks, hot tubs, pools, fences, gazebos, playsets. Published starting prices ($200–$3,000+ by category) with the final fixed quote confirmed on site after walkthrough. Same crew, same trucks, full disposal included. Not interior demo, not house teardowns, not asbestos abatement — we run a clear lane and stay in it.

The full breakdown for each service lives at Dumpster Rentals in Connecticut, Junk Removal in Connecticut, Grizzly Dumpster Bags, and Demolition. For the canonical pricing reference across all four, How Pricing Works.

Where we operate

Two depots, on opposite ends of the route map:

  • Stamford depot — 1 Woodchuck Road in North Stamford. Original yard, runs all of Fairfield County and the Litchfield far-NW corner via Route 7 north. Same-day-before-11-AM service across Greenwich, Stamford, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Fairfield, and the surrounding Tier 2 towns.
  • West Haven yard — added 2026 to dramatically shorten dispatch east. Runs all of New Haven County, Hartford County, the Litchfield closer-in cluster, Middlesex County, and the New London shoreline through Old Lyme/East Lyme/Lyme.

Combined service area: Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield, and Middlesex counties — plus lower New London County and Westchester County, New York. We're licensed and insured in both Connecticut and New York. Operator rule for adding new towns: within 60 minutes' drive from either depot. Towns past the 60-minute line we don't serve, period — we'd rather honestly tell you "that's not in our reach" than show up late and over-promise.

For the full town-by-town breakdown, Service Area.

What 16,000 jobs taught us

A few hard-won principles that shape how we run today:

  • Up-front pricing or no booking. Every customer should know what they're paying before the truck rolls. Roll-offs by size, bag pricing published up front, junk removal confirmed against the truck-space tier on site. We don't do "we'll see when we get there" pricing.
  • Same-day is honest only when it's honest. We say "almost always same-day before 11 AM" because that's what the dispatch board actually supports for closer-in towns. For far-NW Litchfield (Cornwall, Salisbury, Sharon, Kent) and the East CT shoreline past East Lyme, we tell people next-day-default. Don't dress it up.
  • Heavy debris belongs in the right container. Concrete, brick, dirt, asphalt shingles — those go in a 10-yard roll-off, sized small for weight reasons. Not in a bag. Not in a truck-space estimate that gets blown out by weight overage at the transfer station. We push back on the wrong-size bookings before they happen.
  • Hazmat is a hard line. No paint, no oil, no batteries, no chemicals, no food waste. Bag found containing hazmat at collection: $95 travel fee plus the bag stays on site until you clear it through CT DEEP. We're not the right vendor to bend the rules; the disposal facilities don't care that we tried.
  • Communication is the product. The hauling part is commodity. The reason customers come back, refer their neighbors, and call us for the next renovation is that they always know what's happening. Phones answered 8 AM to 10 PM, seven days. Confirmation calls before delivery. Real follow-up after the haul. That's the work.
  • Donations route to charities when items are donatable. On junk-removal jobs, items in donatable condition go to Goodwill / Habitat for Humanity ReStore / Salvation Army instead of the transfer station. The charity issues the tax-deductible receipt; we forward it to you if you ask before the truck leaves. Full mechanics at Charities We Donate To.

What we won't do

A few things we won't take on, regardless of how it's framed:

  • Hazmat in any form. Asbestos, paint, oil, solvents, batteries, fuel, pool chemicals, food waste, biohazardous material. CT DEEP runs household hazardous-waste programs through most municipalities — that's the right route.
  • Heavy debris in bags. Concrete, brick, dirt, sod, tile, plaster, asphalt shingles, sand, gravel, tree limbs, stumps. Those need a 10-yard roll-off, sized small for the weight cap.
  • Bonded-and-insured marketing claims. We're licensed and insured in Connecticut and New York. We are not "bonded" — that's a specific financial-guarantee instrument that we don't carry, and it'd be misleading to claim we do. If a competitor's website says "bonded and insured" and ours doesn't, that's the reason.
  • Surprise add-ons after the truck is loaded. Truck-space tier confirmed before loading on junk removal. Roll-off pricing fixed by size. Bag pricing flat. The price you see is the price you pay, with the only exception being the documented overweight cost-passthrough on roll-offs (real disposal-fee passthrough at $0.10/lb over the included cap, never a markup).
  • Generic "your area" language. If a page on this site says "we serve your area" without naming specific towns and roads, that page is broken. Real local nouns or it doesn't ship.
