We provide full-service junk removal across Connecticut: we bring the truck and the crew, you point at the pile, we load and haul. Pricing is by truck space used, not by item — confirmed before any loading starts. Over 16,000 dumpster drops and junk-removal jobs since 2014 across Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, and lower New London counties. This page is the master reference for our junk-removal service.

Junk removal is the right call when the labor is the real problem — not the volume. If you don't want to load it yourself, the access is awkward, the items are bulky and heavy, or you want it gone today, that's our service. If the volume is bigger than a half-truckload AND you have help loading AND you have driveway space, a roll-off dumpster is usually cheaper. If the project is staged across weekends, a Grizzly Dumpster Bag at $299 combo often fits better.

How does junk removal pricing work?

Pricing is by truck space used. We pull up, look at the pile, give you a firm tier price, and start loading once you say go. Thirteen tiers run from $145 (minimum load) to $795 (full 20-cubic-yard truck) in $50–$80 increments. The full ladder renders below; the How Pricing Works page has the complete reference if you want side-by-side comparisons across all four services.

When is junk removal the right call?

Pick full-service junk removal when one or more of these is true:

  • You don't want to load it yourself, or you can't. Stairs, age, injury, time, the back's been giving out — any of these. We do the lifting.
  • Single bulky items. A couch, an old hot tub, a refrigerator, a treadmill, a piano (call to confirm — some pianos need special equipment). A roll-off is overkill for one piece; the minimum-load tier ($145) covers what you need.
  • You're on a deadline. Closing Friday, tenant moves in Monday, estate has to clear by month-end. Same-day before 11 AM works for most of our service area.
  • It's an estate cleanout. Crew working through stairs and corners finishes the job in one afternoon — or coordinates over multiple days for larger properties. We sort, donate where usable, dispose where not.
  • Hazmat-adjacent items you'd rather hand off. CFC appliances (refrigerant removal handled per EPA), mattresses (CT Bye Bye Mattress program), TVs, monitors. We route to the right facility.
  • Awkward access — third-floor walk-up, no driveway, freight-elevator scheduling, condo loading-zone coordination. Doesn't change our price (truck-space tier doesn't depend on the carry).

If two of those describe your job, you're in the right service. If you're still on the fence, call (203) 219-8855 and we'll talk through it.

What kinds of junk do you haul?

Most of what households and small contractors generate:

  • Furniture — couches, sectionals, recliners, bed frames, dressers, dining sets, office furniture, bookshelves, entertainment centers
  • Mattresses and box springs (handled under CT's Bye Bye Mattress takeback program)
  • Appliances — refrigerators, freezers, AC units, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges. Refrigerant removal documented as required per EPA rules
  • Hot tubs — drained and dismantled on site (most common Tier 1 hub job in Westport / Wilton / New Canaan)
  • Water heaters — gas or electric, drained and removed
  • Construction and renovation debris from kitchen, bath, basement, or whole-house renos — light-volume work where a roll-off would be overkill
  • Yard debris within reason. Large stump or brush jobs go in a 10-yard roll-off
  • Electronics — TVs, monitors, computers, printers
  • Whole-property cleanouts — homes, garages, attics, basements, sheds, storage units

For pianos and other specialty items: call (203) 219-8855 to confirm before scheduling — some require special equipment or crew. We'd rather hold the booking until we know we can finish the job in one trip.

What can't go in our trucks?

Hazardous waste is a hard line. We don't haul paint, motor oil, gasoline, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, asbestos, or biohazardous material. Batteries are out across the board (lithium especially — transfer stations refuse loads over a single power-tool battery). CT DEEP runs household hazardous-waste collection days through most municipalities — that's the right channel. The CT DEEP materials management guide has the per-town program list.

If you're not sure whether something counts as hazmat, call us before booking. We'd rather flag it on the phone than show up and have to leave items behind.

How does the process work?

Five steps, no surprises:

  1. You call or send the form. (203) 219-8855 (live Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI covers after-hours and weekends) or the junk removal quote form. Tell us roughly what you have, where, and when. Photos help — text them to the same number along with your name.
  2. We schedule. Same-day before 11 AM for most of our service area; next-day-default for far-NW Litchfield and East CT past East Lyme. We confirm a 2-3 hour arrival window on the call.
  3. Crew arrives. Two-person crew and the truck, in the agreed window. We check in, walk the items, and give you the firm truck-space tier estimate before any loading starts.
  4. We confirm and load. You say yes (or adjust the scope), the crew loads, you're free to do something else. We don't lift anything you don't want lifted; we don't haul anything you don't want hauled.
  5. We haul and dispose. Everything goes to licensed transfer stations, recycling facilities, or donation partners as appropriate. You pay the confirmed quote — no surprise add-ons after the truck is full.

If the job grows mid-pickup (you decide to add the basement after seeing the crew handle the bedroom), we re-estimate and confirm before continuing. The price you saw is the price you pay, with re-tier confirmation if scope changes.

Donation routing — when items can be donated instead of dumped

When a junk-removal job has items in donatable condition, we route them to local Connecticut charities (Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Salvation Army) instead of dumping them at the transfer station. Ask before the truck leaves if you want the tax-deductible receipt — the charity issues it at drop-off, we forward it to you. This applies to junk-removal jobs only; roll-offs are customer-loaded so the contents go where you decide. Full mechanics, what's eligible, and how the receipt flows are at Charities We Donate To.

Speed reality — same-day before 11 AM, with limits

Same-day is real for most of our service area. Stamford depot covers Fairfield County (Greenwich through Newtown) and Litchfield far-NW via Route 7 north. West Haven yard covers New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield closer-in (via Route 8), Middlesex (via I-95 + Route 9), and the New London shoreline through Old Lyme/East Lyme/Lyme.

Honest about the edges: far-NW Litchfield (Cornwall, Salisbury, Sharon, Kent) and East CT past East Lyme (Waterford, New London, Salem, Montville, Groton, Ledyard) default to next-day. Same-day-before-11-AM works for the closer subset; we don't promise it for the further set. Live phone Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM; AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends. Trucks dispatch Mon–Sat 8 AM – 4 PM (Saturday limited by transfer-station hours).

Two-depot dispatch — why we can move fast

We added the West Haven yard in 2026 to dramatically shorten dispatch east of the Quinnipiac. Before West Haven, every truck routed through Stamford — that worked for Fairfield County but added 30-60 minutes to every NH County / Hartford / Middlesex / coastal job. With two depots, the truck closest to your address takes the job. The depot you dispatch from doesn't change your price (the rate ladder is statewide); it just means you actually get same-day service when the math says yes.

For the per-town depot assignment + drive-time, see Service Area or any town page (Hero shows the dispatch depot and drive-time band for that town).

Service area

We dispatch from two depots:

  • Stamford depot — Fairfield County (Greenwich, Stamford, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Fairfield, plus Trumbull, Easton, Weston, Monroe, Ridgefield, Bethel, Danbury, Brookfield, Bridgeport, Stratford, Shelton, Newtown, Redding) + Litchfield far-NW corner via Route 7 north (New Milford, Roxbury, Warren, Kent, Sharon, Cornwall, Salisbury).
  • West Haven yard — all of New Haven County, all of Hartford County, Litchfield closer-in (via Route 8), Middlesex County, plus the New London shoreline (Old Lyme, East Lyme, Lyme, Waterford, New London, Salem, Montville, Groton, Ledyard).

For Westchester County NY pickups, we run trucks across the border on the same dispatch logic — call (203) 219-8855. Full town list at Service Area.

Prefer a flexible bag instead? Grizzly Bag pricing

The 8-cubic-yard flexible dumpster bag we designed in-house. One flat rate covers delivery, the bag itself, and collection — no rental clock, fill it on your own time.

Grizzly Bag — full service$299

Full service end-to-end — bag delivered within 48 business hours, you fill it on your schedule with no rental clock, we collect when you're ready (Mon–Fri only).

  • 8 cubic yards (~10-yard roll-off equivalent)
  • Delivery within 48 business hours
  • no rental clock — fill it as long as you need
  • Pickup Monday–Friday only — no weekend pickups

Hazmat policy: $95 travel fee AND non-collection if a bag contains prohibited hazardous materials at pickup. Driver dispatches, charges the fee, leaves the bag on site. Customer clears the hazmat through CT DEEP and reschedules pickup once the bag is compliant.

Heavy debris (concrete, brick, dirt, shingles) is also out — needs a 10-yard roll-off, sized small for weight reasons.

Junk removal FAQs

How much does junk removal cost in CT?
Truck-space pricing on a 13-tier ladder, $145 minimum to $795 for a full truckload. The 13 tiers go in roughly $50 increments — a single piece of furniture lands around $145–$195, a small bedroom's worth around $295, half a truck around $455, full house cleanout around $795. We confirm the tier on site before any loading starts, so the number you hear matches the invoice.
How is truck-space pricing different from per-item pricing?
Per-item pricing turns every job into a debate over what counts as one item — does a sectional couch count as one piece or three? Does the box of books on the dresser ride free? We measure the only thing that matters for hauling: how much of the truck your job fills. The 13-tier ladder runs $145 to $795 in $50–$80 increments — close enough that we can quote at the tier that genuinely fits, not round up. Stairs, third-floor walkups, and long carries don't change the price (they don't change how much truck space your stuff takes).
Junk removal vs dumpster rental — how do I choose?
Junk removal: we bring the truck and crew, do the loading, and haul away — best for one-time cleanouts, single rooms, estate jobs, and any project where you don't want to lift. Dumpster rental: we drop a roll-off in your driveway for 7 days, you load on your timeline — best for renovations, multi-day projects, and contractor work. Both are priced the same ladder-style ($145–$795 for junk removal vs $447–$899 for dumpsters); the deciding factor is who's doing the loading and how long the project runs.
How fast can you come out for junk removal?
Almost always same-day if you call before 11 AM and you're within dispatch range of Stamford or West Haven. After 11 AM or on weekends, next-day is standard. For far-NW Litchfield (Cornwall, Salisbury, Sharon, Kent) and East CT past East Lyme, next-day-default is the honest baseline. Live phone Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM at (203) 219-8855; AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends with a callback the next business day.
Can I get same-day junk removal in Connecticut?
Yes for most of our service area when you call before 11 AM — Fairfield County, New Haven County, southern Hartford, coastal Middlesex, and lower Westchester NY. After 11 AM the schedule's usually too packed for same-day. For far-NW Litchfield County and East CT past East Lyme, next-day is the honest baseline regardless of when you call.
Do you remove single items like a mattress or couch?
Yes — single-item pickups start at the $145 minimum-load tier. That covers one mattress, one couch, one appliance, one piece of patio furniture — anything that fits in a small fraction of the truck. There's no per-item upcharge; you pay for the truck-space the item occupies, not the item count.
Will you carry items down from upstairs or up from a basement?
Yes — in-house carry is part of the service. Our two-person crew handles standard residential furniture from any floor — basements, attics (including pull-down stairs), second-story bedrooms — navigating stairs and narrow doorways as part of the job. Real limits: gun safes, grand pianos, hot tubs, and items that physically don't fit through your existing doorways need separate planning. Mention oversize items when you call so we can scope the job correctly.
Do I need to be home for the pickup?
Not always — depends on the job. For interior cleanouts and access through the house, yes (someone has to let the crew in and walk the rooms). For driveway, garage, or yard pickups where the items are already accessible, often no — we coordinate with you on the call. Estate cleanouts and tenant-out scenarios where the family or property manager isn't on site work fine if access and the scope are pre-confirmed. Just tell us the access situation when you book.
What if my job grows mid-pickup?
We re-estimate before continuing. If we quoted you 1/4 truckload ($295) and you've decided to add the contents of the basement, we stop, give you the new tier price, and only keep going once you confirm. No surprise charges at the end. The truck-space tier ladder is small enough ($50–$80 increments) that re-tiering rarely jumps a customer into a much higher cost than expected.
Can you handle estate cleanouts?
Yes. Estate cleanouts are a regular part of the work — full crews, sorted room by room, careful around items the family wants to keep. We coordinate over multiple days for larger properties, and for staged cleanouts where the contents come out across weeks, a Grizzly Bag or roll-off can sit on site between visits. Pricing follows the truck-space tiers ($145 minimum to $795 full truck per pickup); whole-home estates often run multiple full truckloads. We walk the property first, give a tier-based estimate, and confirm before loading.
Do you donate or recycle anything?
When items are usable, yes — we run regular donation drops for furniture and household goods, and we recycle metal, electronics, and appliances through licensed facilities. We don't promise that every item gets a second life, but we route what we can. Mattresses go through Connecticut's Bye Bye Mattress takeback program. CFC appliances go to certified refrigerant-removal recyclers.
What's not allowed in your trucks?
Hazardous waste — paint, motor oil, gasoline, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, asbestos, biohazardous material. Lithium and other batteries. CT DEEP runs household hazardous-waste collection days through most municipalities — check the [CT DEEP materials management guide](https://portal.ct.gov/DEEP/Reduce-Reuse-Recycle/Bins/CT-Materials-Management-Strategy) for your town. Refrigerators, freezers, ACs, and dehumidifiers are fine but the refrigerant has to be removed (or already removed) per EPA rules — we can document this on pickup. If you're not sure whether an item counts, call (203) 219-8855 before booking.
Are you the same as Stamford Junk Pros?
Yes. Grizzly Junk Pros is the dba of Stamford Junk Pros LLC. We started in Stamford in 2014 and operate across Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, and lower New London counties from depots in Stamford and West Haven. Same team, same number — (203) 219-8855.
