Most of our calls come from homeowners. Estate cleanouts after a loved one passes. Move-out cleanouts on the last day of a lease. Pre-listing cleanouts before the realtor's open house. Garage cleanouts when the cars finally need to go inside again. We've done over 16,000 of these since 2014 — across Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, lower New London County, and lower Westchester County NY.

Family-owned hauling for homeowners across CT and lower NY since 2014. This page is the door for everything residential — junk removal, dumpster rental, demolition, Grizzly Bags, donation pickup, general labor. Dedicated pages below for each use case, with operator-voice walkthroughs of pricing, process, and what to expect.

How a homeowner job runs, start to finish

  1. You call or send the form. (203) 219-8855 — Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM live, AI after-hours and weekends — or the quote tool. Tell us what you have, where you are, when you want it done. Photos help — text them to the same number.
  2. We quote. Junk removal: tier range on the call. Dumpster rental: flat by size. Demolition: walkthrough first, then a fixed quote. No bait-and-switch, no calls back with surprise fees.
  3. We dispatch. Same-day if you call before 11 AM and you're in our same-day service area (Fairfield, New Haven, lower Westchester, southern Hartford, coastal Middlesex). Next-day default for the further towns.
  4. We do the work. Crew arrives in our truck, we load, you watch (or don't — most repeat customers leave us to it). Donation-worthy items get routed; everything else hauled to a licensed transfer station.
  5. We invoice. Single bill, all charges itemized. Credit card, cash, check. Donation receipts forwarded when applicable.

Why us

  • 16,000+ jobs since 2014. That's the operating reality, not a marketing number.
  • Family-owned. Same crew, same phone number, same family. Justin reads emails personally on weekday evenings.
  • Two-depot dispatch. Stamford + West Haven. Means same-day-default for most of our service area instead of the 24-48-hour wait you'd get from a single-depot hauler.
  • Operator-honest framing. We tell you "no" when no is the right answer. If your job is past 60 minutes from both depots, we'll say so on the call rather than book and fail to deliver.
  • No bonded claims, no flat-rate gimmicks. We carry standard general liability and commercial auto insurance, licensed in CT and NY. Pricing is up-front by service tier — never "starting at" with surprise add-ons.
  • Donation routing built in. Items in good condition go to Goodwill, Habitat ReStore, Salvation Army, and local food pantries. Charities we work with.

Homeowner FAQs

What kinds of homeowner jobs do you do?
Junk removal, dumpster rental, Grizzly Bags, and small-scale demolition. The most common residential calls are estate cleanouts, move-out cleanouts, pre-listing cleanouts before the property goes on the market, garage and basement cleanouts, and renovation debris (especially kitchen and bath gut work). We don't do regular trash service or hazmat remediation — we're a hauler, not a waste utility.
How fast can you come out?
Same-day if you call before 11 AM and you're within ~45 minutes of either depot — Stamford or West Haven. After 11 AM or on weekends, next-day is standard. For far-NW Litchfield (Cornwall, Salisbury, Sharon, Kent) and East CT past East Lyme, next-day-default is the honest baseline. Phones answered Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM live, AI after-hours and weekends.
How is pricing structured for homeowner jobs?
Junk removal is priced by truck-space used at the end of the job — 13 tiers from $145 (minimum load) to $795 (full truckload). Dumpster rentals are flat by size: $447 / $547 / $647 / $899 for 10 / 15 / 20 / 30-40-yard. Grizzly Bags are $59 / $269 / $299 by option. Demolition quotes by walkthrough.
Do you handle items I want to keep but my family member can't anymore?
Yes — that's most of what estate cleanouts and downsizing work looks like. Walk the property with us; you point at what stays. We work around it. Donation-worthy items get routed to vetted CT charities (Goodwill / Habitat ReStore / Salvation Army). The crew is trained to spot obvious valuables (jewelry, cash, documents, photos) and set them aside.
What can't go in your trucks?
Hazardous waste (paint, motor oil, gasoline, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, asbestos), batteries of any kind, biohazardous material, propane tanks (full), medical waste, liquids. CT DEEP runs household hazardous-waste collection days through most municipalities; check your town's recycling schedule. CFC appliances (fridges, freezers, ACs, dehumidifiers) are fine but the refrigerant needs to be removed (or already removed) per EPA rules.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — general liability, commercial auto, licensed in CT and NY. Certificates of insurance available on request — most homeowner work doesn't need them, but property managers and HOAs sometimes ask. Call (203) 219-8855 or email info@grizzlyjunkpros.com.
