Grizzly Bag dumpster service in Connecticut

Grizzly Bags in use

Grizzly Dumpster Bags — 8 yd³ flexible dumpster, flat-rate pricing

The 8-cubic-yard flexible dumpster bag we designed in-house. One flat rate covers delivery, the bag itself, and collection — no rental clock, fill it on your own time.

Grizzly Bag — full service$299

Full service end-to-end — bag delivered within 48 business hours, you fill it on your schedule with no rental clock, we collect when you're ready (Mon–Fri only).

  • 8 cubic yards (~10-yard roll-off equivalent)
  • Delivery within 48 business hours
  • no rental clock — fill it as long as you need
  • Pickup Monday–Friday only — no weekend pickups

Hazmat policy: $95 travel fee AND non-collection if a bag contains prohibited hazardous materials at pickup. Driver dispatches, charges the fee, leaves the bag on site. Customer clears the hazmat through CT DEEP and reschedules pickup once the bag is compliant.

Heavy debris (concrete, brick, dirt, shingles) is also out — needs a 10-yard roll-off, sized small for weight reasons.

The Grizzly Dumpster Bag is the product I get the most questions about — partly because most other Connecticut haulers don't offer one, and partly because the right use case is genuinely narrow. A bag is an 8-cubic-yard flexible dumpster: a heavy, foldable bag that holds about as much as our 10-yard roll-off but ships flat. We deliver it to your driveway, you fill it on your own time, and we collect it when you're ready. No driveway commitment for days. No rental clock. No quote conversation — pricing is up front and published below.

We built ours specifically for the projects where a 10-yard roll-off is too much, a single junk-removal pickup isn't enough, or your driveway can't host a container for a week. If your project doesn't fit that gap, the bag isn't the right tool — and we'll tell you that on the phone. Up-front pricing only works when we point you at the right product, not the most expensive one.

When a Grizzly Bag is the right call

There are five scenarios where the bag wins on cost, scheduling, or both:

1. A single-room cleanout where 8 cubic yards is plenty. A garage purge, an attic clear-out, one bedroom of furniture before a move, the contents of a finished basement after a flood. If the volume fits in roughly the equivalent of a 10-yard roll-off, the combo at $299 is $148 cheaper than the smallest dumpster.

2. An urban driveway that can't host a roll-off for several days. Bridgeport multi-family parking, downtown Hartford or New Haven condo blocks, walkup-building side yards in Stamford's South End. The bag fits in the space of a few contractor bags, sits on private property, and doesn't trigger the Street Use permit a curb-side roll-off does.

3. Multi-family unit turnover. Property managers running tenant turnovers in Bridgeport, New Haven, or Hartford rentals often have 3-4 days between move-out and the next move-in. A roll-off needs scheduling around the tenant. A bag drops, fills, gets collected — done in the gap without coordinating loading-zone access or freight elevators.

4. A smaller estate cleanout staged over weeks. When you're sorting an inherited home and the pace is "one Saturday at a time," a roll-off's 7-day clock works against you. A bag has no rental window. Fill what you sort this weekend, come back the next, call us when the bag is full.

5. A renovation that generates debris in waves, not all at once. Kitchen demo week one, drywall week three, paint and trim week six. A bag for the heavy demo phase, then full-service junk removal for the smaller leftovers, is often cheaper and easier than babysitting a roll-off through a six-week project.

When a Grizzly Bag is NOT the right call

A bag is the wrong tool when:

  • Heavy debris is involved. Tile, plaster, dirt, sod, brick, rock, concrete, asphalt, asphalt shingles, sand, gravel, tree limbs, and stumps are not allowed. Those go in a 10-yard roll-off, sized small for weight reasons. A roof tear-off, a brick-patio demo, or a basement-floor jackhammer job is roll-off territory.
  • The project will exceed one bag. Whole-home cleanouts, multi-room renovations, kitchen-and-bath combos, full-floor scopes. If you're going to fill more than 8 cubic yards, a 15-yard or 20-yard roll-off ($547 / $647) is cheaper than two bags and saves a second pickup call.
  • A contractor crew is generating debris fast. Site crews need a single big container they can throw drywall and framing into all day. A bag's slower fill cadence becomes friction during active demo.
  • You want it gone today. Bag delivery runs 48 business hours, weekday-only. Same-day-before-11-AM service applies to roll-offs and crew junk removal, not to bags. If today is the deadline, ask about a junk-removal crew at $145–$795 instead.

How a Grizzly Bag works

Three steps, no quote conversation:

  1. You order. Call (203) 219-8855 or use the junk removal quote form and mention you want a bag. Pay for the bag-only ($59), collection-only ($269), or combo ($299) option upfront.
  2. We deliver. Within 48 business hours of booking. The bag arrives folded; you unfold it on your driveway, in your garage, or anywhere a hard surface sits within 10 feet of where our truck can pull up. We don't need anyone home for delivery as long as the access is clear of overhead wires, low branches, or parked cars in the path.
  3. You fill it on your own time. No rental clock. Fill it over a weekend, a month, or a season — your call. Don't fill above the side walls, and keep the bag handles accessible so the driver can hook them.
  4. We collect. Call or email when it's full. Pickup runs within 48 hours of the collection request, weekday-only — no weekend pickups. The bag and its contents are disposed of together at a licensed facility. Single-use product; we don't refold and reuse it.

How much does a Grizzly Bag cost?

Up-front pricing, published — no quote conversation needed:

  • Bag only — $59. Delivery is included. We drop a folded bag at your property within 48 business hours. You handle pickup yourself when ready, or upgrade to collection later for the $269 pickup fee. Use this if you want to plan ahead, want to pay for pickup later, or you're in the "I might need this in a few weeks" planning phase.
  • Collection only — $269. We pick up a Grizzly Bag you already have on site. The natural follow-up to a $59 bag-only order. Together, bag + collection bought separately = $328.
  • Combo (bag + delivery + collection) — $299. Full service end-to-end. The cheapest path when you know going in that 8 cubic yards is enough — $29 cheaper than buying the bag and the collection separately.

Hazmat policy: $95 travel fee AND non-collection. If a bag contains prohibited hazardous materials at collection (paint, oil, batteries, chemicals, food waste), the $95 travel fee applies AND we cannot remove the bag. Our driver dispatches, charges the travel fee, and leaves the bag on site with the contents intact. You'll need to clear the hazmat through CT DEEP's hazardous-waste channels (or your town's hazmat day) and call us to reschedule pickup once the bag is compliant. Heavy debris (concrete, brick, dirt, shingles) gets the same treatment — those belong in a roll-off, not a bag.

For comparison, our roll-off rates: 10-yard $447, 15-yard $547, 20-yard $647, 30/40-yard $899. The bag combo at $299 is the cheapest path when 8 yd³ is enough; a 10-yard roll-off makes sense above that or for any heavy-debris job.

How does a Grizzly Bag compare to our roll-off dumpsters?

8 cubic yards versus 10 yards is the volume comparison — a Grizzly Bag holds roughly 80% of what our smallest roll-off holds. The bag's strength isn't that it's bigger; it's that it's more flexible to place, fill, and schedule.

Roll-offs are dropped by truck, fill on your driveway for the rental window, and need driveway access for both delivery and pickup. Bags ship flat in a smaller vehicle, sit anywhere a contractor bag would sit, and don't need a wide-open driveway approach for delivery. The trade-off: bags are weight-restricted (no concrete, brick, dirt) where roll-offs handle the heavy stuff; bags run 48-hour delivery weekday-only where roll-offs are same-day-before-11-AM Mon–Sat. Roll-offs include a per-size weight allowance — 0.5 ton on a 10-yard up to 3 tons on a 30/40 — so heavy material has a cap to land under. Bags don't quote a weight cap; the heavy-materials exclusion list is the operational equivalent.

If you're between the two, the dumpster booking page walks the choice. Or call (203) 219-8855 and tell us what you're working on — we'll point you at the cheaper option.

Where in Connecticut do you deliver Grizzly Bags?

Across all five Connecticut counties we serve — Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield, and Middlesex — plus the lower New London County shoreline (Old Lyme east through Groton/Ledyard) and Westchester County, New York. Two depots run the routes: Stamford handles lower Fairfield County and the New York border towns; West Haven handles New Haven County, eastern Fairfield, southern Hartford, coastal Middlesex, and the East CT shoreline along I-95.

Stamford depot delivery includes: Stamford, Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Fairfield, Trumbull, Easton, Weston, Monroe, Ridgefield, Bethel, Danbury, Brookfield, Newtown, Shelton, Bridgeport, Stratford, and Redding.

West Haven depot delivery includes: Milford, Orange, Woodbridge, New Haven, Hartford, and Waterbury.

If your town isn't named, call (203) 219-8855 — we likely already serve it. Bag deliveries respect the same depot dispatch pattern as roll-offs: closer-in towns tend to land at the front of the 48-hour delivery window, far-NW Litchfield closer to the back. Westchester County, NY service mirrors the Stamford depot's lower Fairfield County cadence.

I love the whole idea of the "Grizzly Bag" and it worked perfectly for what I needed. I must admit that held onto it and used it for quite a long time. I half expected Junk Pros not to remember I had a grizzly bag. But I was so pleased(Truncated at source — full text on Google.)

Grizzly Dumpster Bags — frequently asked questions

What can I put in a Grizzly Bag?
Standard residential debris: furniture, mattresses (one or two — beyond that we route through CT's Bye Bye Mattress program separately), boxes, household goods, small appliances, electronics, clothing, light renovation debris (cabinetry, drywall scraps, baseboards, light flooring). Working appliances with refrigerant pulled. The 8-cubic-yard capacity holds roughly a small truckload of mixed household stuff. Heavy debris and hazmat have their own exclusions — see the question above.
Can I put concrete, brick, dirt, or roofing shingles in a Grizzly Bag?
No. Heavy materials are a bag's hard line: tile, plaster, dirt, sod, brick, rock, concrete, asphalt, asphalt shingles, sand, gravel, tree limbs, and stumps all go in a roll-off instead. A 10-yard roll-off at $447 is the right size for clean fill, broken concrete, or brick — heavy material hits the weight cap before it fills the box, so go small.
What if I overfill the bag or load prohibited materials?
Don't fill above the side walls — if the handles aren't accessible, the driver can't hook them and we can't haul it. For prohibited hazardous materials (paint, oil, batteries, chemicals, food waste): a $95 travel fee applies AND we cannot remove the bag. The driver dispatches, charges the travel fee, and leaves the bag on site with the contents intact. You then clear the hazmat through CT DEEP's hazardous-waste channels (or your town's hazmat day) and call us back to reschedule pickup once the bag is compliant. Same applies to heavy debris (concrete, brick, dirt, shingles) — those go in a roll-off, not a bag.
How long can I keep a Grizzly Bag before pickup?
As long as you need. There's no rental clock — bags don't have the 7-day window roll-offs do. Fill it over a weekend, a month, or a full season; call when you're ready for collection. Pickup is within 48 hours of the collection request, weekday-only — no weekend pickups.
How fast can you deliver a Grizzly Bag?
Within 48 business hours of booking, weekday-only. Bag delivery doesn't fit the same-day-before-11-AM model that applies to roll-offs and crew junk removal — bags ship from a different schedule because there's a delivery step before the bag goes to work. If today is the deadline, ask about a junk-removal crew at $145 minimum on the same call.
Can I rent multiple Grizzly Bags at once?
Yes — multi-bag setups are common for whole-house cleanouts, multi-room renovations, or split-location jobs. Order one bag per location (or per debris category) at the same combo price. We can deliver all bags the same day when scheduled together; pickup is per-bag whenever each one is ready. Same flat pricing per bag — no multi-bag discount, no multi-bag surcharge.
Should I get a Grizzly Bag or a roll-off dumpster?
Grizzly Bag if your project is small-to-medium volume (≤ 8 cubic yards), you fill on your own timeline (no rental clock), and your driveway can't host a roll-off for 7 days. Roll-off dumpster if your project is bigger, runs longer than 8 cu yd of debris, or you want to keep the can on-site through a multi-day renovation. The bag's biggest advantage: no rental clock — fill it over weeks if you need to. The dumpster's biggest advantage: more capacity per trip, including for heavy debris (concrete, shingles) the bag can't take.
Can I leave the Grizzly Bag outside in rain or snow?
Yes for normal CT weather — the bag is woven polypropylene with a coated interior, sheds rain and snow without compromising contents. Real limits: heavy multi-day rain can puddle if drainage is blocked (drape excess plastic if available), and heavy snow load on top of an already-full bag can deform the sidewalls or make collection harder for the truck. Brush off heavy snow before pickup. Standing water for weeks isn't recommended — call to schedule pickup once the bag is full rather than letting it sit through a winter storm cycle.
Where on my property does the bag have to sit?
On a hard surface — driveway, garage, side yard — within 10 feet of where our truck can pull up. The approach needs to be about 14 feet wide for our truck to clear, and the area should be free of overhead wires, low tree branches, structures, and parked cars in the truck's path. Bags fit anywhere a few contractor bags would sit when empty, so most homes have a workable spot.
How does a Grizzly Bag compare to a Bagster or other flexible-dumpster brand?
Both are flexible-dumpster products in roughly the same volume range. The operational difference: we own the bag, the truck, and the dispatch — when you call, you talk to the same Stamford and West Haven crew that's run 16,000+ jobs across Connecticut since 2014, not a national-brand call center routed to whichever local hauler happens to have capacity. Pricing is published, scheduling is direct, and if the wrong product fits your job better we'll tell you that on the phone.
