Our depot sits at 1 Woodchuck Road in North Stamford, and Danbury is about a 50-minute drive north via I-684. We've dropped roll-offs on Mill Plain colonials during pre-listing cleanouts, behind retail along the Federal Road / Route 7 corridor, on King Street properties for kitchen renovations, near WCSU at end-of-semester apartment turnovers, and at Candlewood Lake-area homes for estate cleanouts. Over 16,000 dumpster drops and junk-removal jobs since 2014, across Fairfield, New Haven, and Hartford counties. This page is what I tell Danbury homeowners and contractors when they call.

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Danbury?

Roll-off dumpster rentals in Danbury use up-front pricing. The price doesn't change between Mill Plain and the West Side, between a Bear Mountain ranch and a downtown rowhouse — size sets the rate, not the address. The base rate covers delivery, pickup, dumping at the licensed transfer station, and a 7-day rental window. We don't surcharge for "longer driveways" or "harder access." This matters more in Danbury than most upper-Fairfield-County towns because there's no municipal transfer station — the alternative to a roll-off is multiple trips to Oak Ridge Waste at 304 White Street or Danbury AWD at 307 White Street.

Four sizes cover almost every Danbury project. The 10-yard runs $447, right for small bath remodels or concrete-and-dirt loads. The 15-yard runs $547, the sweet spot for apartment cleanouts, single-room renovations, and full garage cleanouts. The 20-yard runs $647, the most-common pick for whole-house decluttering, single-layer roof tear-offs, and full estate cleanouts. The 30/40-yard runs $899 — contractor-tier for full additions, multi-room renovations, and commercial site work along Federal Road and Backus Avenue.

What size dumpster do I need for Danbury projects?

Danbury is the largest town in this part of Fairfield County — about 86,000 residents — and the housing reflects 150 years of industrial-and-residential growth. The downtown core has 19th-century mixed-use, the West Side and Bear Mountain hold older capes and colonials, Mill Plain has mid-century single-family on hilly approaches, and the King Street corridor and Candlewood Lake area mix newer subdivisions with older lake homes. Sizing follows the project, not the neighborhood.

10-yard ($447) holds about three pickup-truck loads. Right-sized for: a single-bath remodel, a half-garage cleanout, an end-of-lease apartment clear in a Downtown Danbury rental, or any concrete-or-dirt-only load. Heavy materials hit the weight cap before they fill the box.

15-yard ($547) holds about four to five pickup-truck loads. The right call for full garage cleanouts, basement cleanouts in older West Side colonials, mid-size kitchen or bath renovations, and a typical apartment-house cleanout near WCSU. If you're not sure between sizes, this is the safe pick.

20-yard ($647) holds about six pickup-truck loads. The most-common Danbury size. Right-sized for whole-house decluttering before a move, a single-layer asphalt roof tear-off on a typical Danbury cape or colonial, a multi-day renovation, or a full estate cleanout on a Candlewood Lake-area property. Roof debris runs heavy: a typical 2,000 sq ft home generates 3-4 tons of asphalt-shingle waste, which means roughly $200-400 in overweight charges at $0.10/lb beyond the 2-ton included weight on a 20-yard — and total stays below the 30/40-yard's $899 base for most homes. Size up to 30/40-yard only for roofs over 2,500 sq ft or two-layer tear-offs.

30/40-yard ($899) is contractor-tier. Right-sized for a full addition off King Street, a whole-house gut on an older West Side colonial, a multi-room renovation generating substantial drywall and framing waste, a Federal Road retail buildout, or a roof tear-off with two layers of shingles. Most Danbury homeowners don't need this size; most contractors on a serious renovation do.

Where can I put a dumpster in Danbury?

The standard placement is your driveway. Danbury's driveway reality runs the full range — short tight downtown driveways, long wooded approaches in Bear Mountain and the Candlewood Lake area, and standard suburban approaches across Mill Plain and King Street.

The placement constraints we see most often in Danbury: tight downtown blocks north of Main Street where curb-side room is limited and the older driveways turn sharply off the road, vertical clearance (mature canopies in older West Side and Bear Mountain neighborhoods can drop low — the loaded delivery truck needs about 22 feet overhead), and slope on the steeper hillside approaches around Bear Mountain and parts of the Candlewood Lake area. A 20-yard rolled down a steep grade is a problem we'd rather not solve at delivery; we'll back-set the can closer to the street rather than push deep into a constricted approach.

For lawn placement on the larger lots, we put planks under the wheels. We don't recommend lawn drops if it's been raining — soft ground doesn't hold a loaded box.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Danbury, CT?

Three cases, three answers.

Private property — your driveway, your land, your parking area: no permit required. That's the vast majority of residential rentals in Danbury. Drop the dumpster and start your project.

Public street, sidewalk, or town right-of-way: yes — coordinate with the Danbury Permit Center. The Permit Center sits at 155 Deer Hill Avenue, phone (203) 797-4537. Plan a few business days for processing. Street placement comes up most often on tighter Downtown Danbury blocks where there's no usable driveway, and for contractors staging multi-week dumpsters in a curb lane during a downtown demo.

State route placement: a Connecticut DOT Encroachment Permit instead of (not in addition to) the city permit. This applies if your property fronts a state route and you'd be placing the dumpster in the state right-of-way. In Danbury, that includes Route 6, Route 7 (Federal Road), and the I-84 corridor. More common for commercial sites than homeowners.

How fast can you deliver a dumpster in Danbury?

Same-day works for Danbury when the timing lines up, but be honest with the calendar — we're a 50-minute drive from depot, the longest dispatch in our standard upper-Fairfield-County rotation. If you call before 11 AM and the size you want is on the lot, we can almost always drop the can the same day. After 11 AM or on weekends, next-day is standard. Delivery and pickup windows fall between 8 AM and 4 PM — we do our best to accommodate earlier or later requests when the schedule allows. Call (203) 219-8855 — live Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends.

How does Danbury handle waste without a town transfer station?

Danbury is the outlier of upper Fairfield County: no municipal transfer station. Residents who want to drop off waste themselves go to one of two private receivers on White Street — Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling at 304 White Street (accepts drop-off for a fee) or Danbury AWD Mom & Pop Recycle Center at 307 White Street (residential, hours: Tuesday 10 AM–5 PM, Wednesday 12–8 PM, Thursday/Friday 10 AM–2 PM, Saturday 7:30 AM–3:30 PM). For small recyclables only, Mill Plain Green runs a Friday mobile drop-off in front of 65 Mill Plain Road.

This is a meaningful difference. In Trumbull or Easton, residents have a town facility a short drive away with permit-included access. In Danbury, every load is a private-receiver visit at a per-load fee — and for anything over a couple of pickup-truck loads, the trip count adds up fast. A 10-yard at $447 base delivered to your Danbury driveway, picked up, and dumped saves the round-trips to White Street. For a kitchen reno, a roof tear-off, an estate cleanout, or a Federal Road tenant turnover, the roll-off is the natural path.

For hazardous waste — paint, solvents, oil, pesticides, lithium batteries — neither private receiver is the right answer. Those go through CT DEEP collection days or the Danbury Recycling & Solid Waste Division for current guidance.

Danbury neighborhoods we serve

Danbury isn't one place — it's a city of distinct neighborhoods, each with its own driveway shape and project mix.

  • Downtown Danbury — the Main Street core, 19th-century mixed-use, tighter blocks and short driveways, frequent tenant turnovers and end-of-lease apartment cleanouts.
  • Mill Plain — eastern Danbury, mid-century single-family on hilly approaches, frequent kitchen and bath renovations.
  • Bear Mountain — northwest Danbury, older capes and colonials on hillside lots, deeper driveways, more landscape work.
  • King Street — south Danbury along Route 6 and the New York border, mix of newer subdivisions and older homes, growing reno volume.
  • Candlewood Lake area — northwest Danbury along the lake's southern shore, mix of older lake homes and newer year-round houses, frequent estate and seasonal-cleanout work.
  • West Side — west-central Danbury including the WCSU corridor, older colonials and rental housing, end-of-semester move-out volume.

If your part of Danbury isn't on the list, call — we likely already serve it.

Common Danbury project types

A decade of dispatch logs sorts into a few buckets in Danbury.

  • Kitchen and bath renovations in Mill Plain mid-century homes and West Side older colonials — 15-yard single-room, 20-yard whole-floor.
  • Apartment and house-share move-outs near WCSU — 15-yard for a single rental, 20-yard for a multi-unit cleanout.
  • Roof tear-offs on Danbury colonials and capes. Single-layer asphalt: 20-yard. Two-layer: 30/40-yard.
  • Estate cleanouts on Candlewood Lake-area and Bear Mountain properties — typically a 20-yard plus a junk-removal crew for the heavy items.
  • Federal Road / Backus Avenue commercial work — tenant turnovers, retail buildouts, contractor debris on 30/40-yard cans with swap scheduling.
  • Whole-house decluttering before listing on Mill Plain and King Street homes — typically a 20-yard.

What about Grizzly Dumpster Bags in Danbury?

Danbury's mix of mid-size-city density and suburban-residential stock makes the Grizzly Dumpster Bag a frequent better fit than a roll-off. Mill Plain and Locust Avenue multi-family parking, downtown blocks where curb-side placement triggers a permit conversation, or a Wooster Heights condo where the building won't host a roll-off for several days — the bag drops on private property within 10 feet of where our truck can pull up, sits as long as you need, and gets collected when you're ready. 8 cubic yards, $299 combo, no rental window.

Full breakdown at Grizzly Dumpster Bags. Call (203) 219-8855 to confirm whether a bag or a 10-yard fits the project better.

Quick and Reliable! JunkPros are great! They are reliable, professional, and their prices are reasonable. The Grizzly Bags are great! They are bigger and much cheaper than the green bags from the box stores! I highly recommend JunkPros!

Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.

Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.

Danbury dumpster rental FAQs

How much is a 20-yard dumpster in Danbury, CT?
$647 base. That covers delivery, pickup, dumping, and the standard 7-day rental window. The 20-yard fits about 6 pickup-truck loads of mixed renovation or household debris — a common pick for whole-house decluttering on Mill Plain colonials, full estate cleanouts on Candlewood Lake-area properties, and single-layer roof tear-offs across Danbury's older housing stock. Roof debris runs heavy — typical 2,000 sq ft home generates $200-400 in overweight charges at $0.10/lb beyond the 2-ton cap on a 20-yard. Size up to 30/40-yard for roofs over 2,500 sq ft or two-layer tear-offs.
Does Danbury have a transfer station?
No — Danbury is the outlier in upper Fairfield County. There's no municipal transfer station for residents. The closest drop-off options are private: Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling at 304 White Street, and Danbury AWD Mom & Pop Recycle Center at 307 White Street (residential, hours: Tuesday 10 AM–5 PM, Wednesday 12–8 PM, Thursday/Friday 10 AM–2 PM, Saturday 7:30 AM–3:30 PM). For anything over a few small loads, a Grizzly roll-off is the simpler path — we deliver, you fill, we haul. No White Street trips.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in my driveway in Danbury?
No. Danbury doesn't require a permit for a dumpster placed entirely on private property — your driveway, lawn, or parking pad. Permits only come into play if the dumpster sits in a public street, sidewalk, or town right-of-way; for those cases, contact the Danbury Permit Center at 155 Deer Hill Avenue, (203) 797-4537.
How fast can you deliver a dumpster to Danbury?
Almost always same-day if you call before 11 AM. Our trucks dispatch from Woodchuck Road in North Stamford, and Danbury is about a 50-minute drive north via I-684 — same-day windows are tighter here than for our coastal Tier 1 towns, but it works most days.
What size dumpster do I need for a WCSU move-out or Danbury rental cleanout?
A typical apartment or house-share end-of-semester move-out lands on a 15-yard ($547) — handles couches, mattresses, broken IKEA, and the contents of a small garage or storage unit. For a multi-tenant rental cleanout (full house at WCSU or a multi-unit on the West Side), 20-yard ($647) is the right call. We can pair the dumpster with a junk-removal crew if there's no labor on-site to load.
Can a roll-off fit on a tighter Downtown Danbury lot?
Most of the time, yes — but flag the lot at booking. Downtown Danbury has tighter blocks and short driveways, especially north of Main Street and around the older mixed-use lots. The two things to flag: vertical clearance at the driveway entrance (the loaded delivery truck needs about 22 feet overhead) and any sharp turn off the street. If the only option is street placement, that's a Permit Center conversation through (203) 797-4537. Snap a photo and text it to us before delivery — we either confirm the run or work out a placement.
Do you serve the New York border towns from Danbury?
Yes. Danbury borders Brewster (Putnam County), Pawling (Dutchess County), and Patterson (Putnam County), and we're licensed and insured in both Connecticut and New York. Same up-front pricing, same dispatch out of Stamford. If you're on the NY side of the border, mention it when you book and we'll confirm the route.
What about commercial dumpsters along Federal Road or near Danbury Fair Mall?
Standard work for us. The Federal Road / Route 7 corridor and the Backus Avenue area near Danbury Fair Mall run mostly 20-yard and 30/40-yard cans for office tenant turnovers, retail buildouts, and contractor demolition. Commercial sites usually want a swap schedule — we pull the full can, drop a fresh empty in the same spot, and route on the same day when dispatch has room.
