Long Neck Point is a private peninsula community at the southern tip of Darien, jutting into Long Island Sound. It's distinct from but adjacent to Tokeneke — a separate private community with its own association, its own street-use rules, and its own placement-coordination requirements. The peninsula is small geographically but the housing is distinctive: high-end shoreline estate properties, mostly older with some newer rebuilds, on a single private peninsula with one road in and one road out.

What's different about Long Neck Point dumpster work?

Private peninsula governance. Long Neck Point Association is the authority within the peninsula. Town of Darien permits don't apply to placements on association streets; the association's rules do. Coordination with the association is part of every Long Neck Point dispatch — this is similar to how Belle Haven Association works in Greenwich, or Tokeneke Association in the rest of southwestern Darien.

Single peninsula access. One road in, one road out. Delivery and pickup require coordination so trucks aren't blocking access during high-traffic periods (school drop-off, evening commuter return, weekend social events). We plan the timing with the property owner or contractor.

Estate-scale construction. Long Neck Point housing skews high-end with pre-war estate stock and significant newer rebuilds. The project mix matches Tokeneke or Belle Haven (Greenwich) — gut-rehabs, slate roofs, copper detail, large landscape projects.

Shoreline placement considerations. The peninsula is bordered by Long Island Sound on three sides. Some properties have driveways close to the shoreline; placement walks need to account for proximity to the water and the typical shoreline-property landscaping (mature hedges, granite walls, paver patios).

Long Neck Point Road is the spine of the peninsula — the single access road in and out. Pear Tree Point Road branches off near the peninsula's base, leading to the Pear Tree Point Beach area (Darien resident-only beach). Hollow Tree Ridge Road and Bayberry Lane host residential housing.

The peninsula is small enough that the entire area is essentially one neighborhood. The Long Neck Point Association manages the private streets and right-of-way; the Long Neck Point Beach Association manages a private beach for residents.

Long Neck Point placement notes

Driveways on Long Neck Point are estate-sized — fit isn't usually the constraint. What matters:

• Vertical clearance from mature trees. Long peninsula driveways often run past mature canopy. Walk the approach if photos look marginal.
• Stonework and paver surfaces. Almost all Long Neck Point driveways have stone or paver elements. Always plank.
• Single peninsula access timing. Peak commuter and school hours see traffic on Long Neck Point Road; we time deliveries and pickups to avoid bottlenecks.
• Long Neck Point Association rules. Every placement subject to the association's rules. Always check before booking.
• Shoreline proximity. For waterfront properties, the placement walk includes confirmation of the safe distance from the water's edge and any seawall or bulkhead infrastructure.

The peninsula is private association territory. Long Neck Point Association rules govern placement, not Town DPW. A private-driveway placement requires no Town permit, but the association's rules apply. Town Street Opening Permits don't apply to association streets.
