We dispatch Litchfield from our West Haven yard, about 55 minutes door-to-door from our West Haven yard via Route 8 north + Route 202. Litchfield town has the largest historic district in Connecticut — placement around Litchfield Green and the surrounding 18th and 19th-century blocks needs careful planning given preservation oversight. The town also includes Bantam borough (its own incorporated village) and the Bantam Lake shoreline properties. Population ~8,000 spread across a large rural town. ~55 min via Route 8 north + Route 202. Over 16,000 dumpster drops and junk-removal jobs since 2014, across Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, and Litchfield counties. This page is what I tell Litchfield homeowners and contractors when they call.

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Litchfield?

Roll-off dumpster rentals in Litchfield use up-front pricing. The price doesn't change between Litchfield Center / town green and Bantam Lake shoreline — size sets the rate, not the address. The base rate covers delivery, pickup, dumping at a licensed transfer station, and a 7-day rental window. We don't surcharge for "longer driveways" or "harder access," and the Litchfield dispatch from our West Haven yard is built into the base rate, not added on top.

Four sizes cover almost every Litchfield project. The 10-yard runs $447, right for small bath remodels or concrete-and-dirt loads. The 15-yard runs $547, the sweet spot for single-room renovations and full garage cleanouts. The 20-yard runs $647, the most-common pick for whole-house decluttering, single-layer roof tear-offs, and contractor work. The 30/40-yard runs $899 — delivered as two 20-yard cans (same-day or swapped) for full additions, multi-room renovations, and commercial buildouts. Full pricing reference at How Pricing Works.

What size dumpster do I need for Litchfield projects?

Single-bath remodel: 10-yard at $447. Standard Litchfield bath gut. Historic-district work almost always uses the 10 for its smaller footprint on tight 18th-19th-century blocks.

Kitchen reno or single-room remodel: 15-yard at $547. Most-common rental in the residential blocks outside the historic district. Litchfield's older housing stock often involves plaster removal — the 15-yard handles mixed heavy debris.

Whole-house decluttering, addition framing: 20-yard at $647. Mid-size renovation work in the newer outlying areas.

Major contractor work: 30/40-yard at $899. Two 20-yard cans — useful where a single 30 wouldn't fit on historic-district properties.

Where can I put a dumpster in Litchfield?

Litchfield's historic district is the placement constraint — Main Street and the surrounding 18th and 19th-century blocks around the town green have tight short driveways and strict preservation oversight. We frequently recommend the 10-yard for any historic-district renovation work even when project volume would suggest a 15.

Bantam borough is denser than the surrounding rural Litchfield; placement varies block by block.

Bantam Lake shoreline properties are rural-residential with mid-size to long lots — easy placement.

Northfield, East Litchfield, South Farms, Milton are rural-residential with long driveways — placement is straightforward.

State route placement along Route 202 or Route 63 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit.

For lawn placement, we put planks under the wheels. Minor turf compression is normal. We don't recommend lawn drops if it's been raining — soft ground doesn't hold a loaded box. Snap a photo of the driveway entrance from the street and text it to (203) 219-8855 if you're not sure about clearance or approach.

How fast can you deliver a dumpster in Litchfield?

Litchfield is about a 55-minute run from our West Haven yard via Route 8 north + Route 202 — at the outer band of our regular Litchfield County dispatch. We run Litchfield jobs pure next-day default. Route 8 north traffic patterns and winter weather impacts make same-day unreliable at this distance; we schedule next-day to give you a confirmed window rather than a maybe. Winter dispatch can shift to next-day-plus on confirmed orders if road conditions deteriorate north of Waterbury — we'll call you the morning of if a storm shifts the delivery window. Delivery and pickup windows fall between 8 AM and 4 PM. Call (203) 219-8855 — live Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends.

What about the Litchfield Transfer Station?

The Town of Litchfield Recycling Center serves residents of Litchfield, Bantam, East Litchfield, Milton, and Northfield per townoflitchfield.org. A windshield sticker is required (issued free at the Recycling Center office during business hours). Contact Litchfield Public Works at (860) 567-7575 (101 Russell Street) for current hours and accepted-materials list.

For Litchfield residents weighing self-haul against a Grizzly roll-off, the math runs roughly the same as in any Litchfield County town: a self-haul is your time, your truck, and the per-load fees the town sets at the gate. A 10-yard at $447 base delivered to your Litchfield driveway, picked up, and dumped covers everything in one shot. The roll-off wins fast for anything over a couple of pickup-truck loads — and for rural Litchfield properties where the self-haul drive itself eats half a day.

The transfer station does not accept hazardous waste — paint, solvents, oil, pesticides, lithium batteries. Those go through CT DEEP collection days.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Litchfield, CT?

Private property — your driveway, your land: no permit required. Standard residential case in the rural outlying areas. Public street, sidewalk, or town right-of-way: coordinate with Litchfield Public Works (860) 567-7575 at 101 Russell Street per townoflitchfield.org. Historic-district placement requires a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Historic District Commission ((860) 354-9346) — Litchfield's historic district is the largest in CT and the Commission reviews any exterior alteration visible from a public street. Historic-district placement requires Historic District Commission approval — Litchfield's historic district is the largest in CT and has strict preservation oversight. Confirm with the town before booking on any property around the green or in the Main Street historic blocks. State route placement along Route 202 or Route 63 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead.

What customers in Litchfield are saying

Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.

Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.

It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.
