We dispatch Torrington from our West Haven yard, about 60 minutes door-to-door from our West Haven yard via Route 8 north. Torrington is the population center of Litchfield County (~35,000 residents) — older downtown along Main Street + East Main Street, plus newer residential along Migeon Avenue and Litchfield Street. Street-placement permit cases come up regularly given downtown density. ~60 minutes via Route 8 north. Over 16,000 dumpster drops and junk-removal jobs since 2014, across Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, and Litchfield counties. This page is what I tell Torrington homeowners and contractors when they call.

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Torrington?

Roll-off dumpster rentals in Torrington use up-front pricing. The price doesn't change between Downtown Torrington and Torringford — size sets the rate, not the address. The base rate covers delivery, pickup, dumping at a licensed transfer station, and a 7-day rental window. We don't surcharge for "longer driveways" or "harder access," and the Torrington dispatch from our West Haven yard is built into the base rate, not added on top.

Four sizes cover almost every Torrington project. The 10-yard runs $447, right for small bath remodels or concrete-and-dirt loads. The 15-yard runs $547, the sweet spot for single-room renovations and full garage cleanouts. The 20-yard runs $647, the most-common pick for whole-house decluttering, single-layer roof tear-offs, and contractor work. The 30/40-yard runs $899 — delivered as two 20-yard cans (same-day or swapped) for full additions, multi-room renovations, and commercial buildouts. Full pricing reference at How Pricing Works.

What size dumpster do I need for Torrington projects?

Single-bath remodel or concrete tear-up: 10-yard at $447. Standard Torrington bath gut. Also the right size for any heavy load (concrete walkway tear-up, old brick chimney demo).

Kitchen reno or single-room remodel: 15-yard at $547. Most-common Torrington rental. Older downtown housing stock (a lot pre-1940) means kitchen renos often involve plaster-and-lath removal — the 15-yard's 1-ton allowance handles mixed heavy debris.

Whole-house decluttering or multi-family turnover: 20-yard at $647. Estate cleanouts in older Torrington neighborhoods and multi-family turnovers downtown fit this size cleanly.

Major contractor work, full additions: 30/40-yard at $899. Two 20-yard cans, same-day side-by-side or swapped — common for the multi-family turnover work and Migeon Avenue corridor commercial dispatches.

Where can I put a dumpster in Torrington?

Downtown Torrington is the tight-placement neighborhood — tenement blocks along Main Street, East Main Street, and Water Street often have no usable private driveway, which puts the can on the street or sidewalk. That's a permit conversation with the Torrington Public Works Department at City Hall — Torrington requires permits for any dumpster placed on public property; bulk-waste and street-placement applications route through Public Works per torringtonct.gov. The two-20 delivery model on the 30/40-yard tier helps here — narrower 20-yard cans fit downtown blocks where a single big can wouldn't.

Migeon Avenue corridor, Newfield, Highland Heights, Torringford have suburban-standard driveway depths; standard private-property placement covers most residential rentals.

Burrville is the more rural section — easy placement on long driveways.

State route placement along Route 4, Route 8 access, Route 183, or Route 202 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead of the city Street Use Permit.

For lawn placement, we put planks under the wheels. Minor turf compression is normal. We don't recommend lawn drops if it's been raining — soft ground doesn't hold a loaded box. Snap a photo of the driveway entrance from the street and text it to (203) 219-8855 if you're not sure about clearance or approach.

How fast can you deliver a dumpster in Torrington?

Torrington is about a 60-minute run from our West Haven yard via Route 8 north — at the outer band of our regular Litchfield County dispatch. We run Torrington jobs pure next-day default. Route 8 north traffic patterns and winter weather impacts make same-day unreliable at this distance; we schedule next-day to give you a confirmed window rather than a maybe. Winter dispatch can shift to next-day-plus on confirmed orders if road conditions deteriorate north of Waterbury — we'll call you the morning of if a storm shifts the delivery window. Delivery and pickup windows fall between 8 AM and 4 PM. Call (203) 219-8855 — live Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends.

What about the Torrington Transfer Station?

Torrington's transfer station is at 118 Old Dump Road, open Monday–Friday 7:30 AM–2:30 PM and Saturday/Sunday 7:30 AM–9:30 AM per torringtonct.gov. Phone (860) 482-6319. Torrington is the largest city in Litchfield County and operates its own facility rather than routing through regional HRRA arrangements; the Solid Waste Department handles commercial-vs-residential rate distinctions.

For Torrington residents weighing self-haul against a Grizzly roll-off, the math runs roughly the same as in any Litchfield County town: a self-haul is your time, your truck, and the per-load fees the town sets at the gate. A 10-yard at $447 base delivered to your Torrington driveway, picked up, and dumped covers everything in one shot. The roll-off wins fast for anything over a couple of pickup-truck loads — and for rural Litchfield properties where the self-haul drive itself eats half a day.

The transfer station does not accept hazardous waste — paint, solvents, oil, pesticides, lithium batteries. Those go through CT DEEP collection days.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Torrington, CT?

Private property — your driveway, your private parking pad: no permit required. Standard Migeon / Highland Heights / Torringford case. Public street, sidewalk, or city right-of-way: yes — coordinate with the Torrington Public Works Department at City Hall for a Street Use Permit. Torrington routes bulk-waste and dumpster street-permit applications through the Solid Waste Department / Engineering office per torringtonct.gov; confirm specific fee schedule at booking. The street-permit case comes up regularly in downtown Torrington — many of those blocks lack usable private driveways. Plan a few business days for permit processing. State route placement along Route 4, Route 183, or Route 202 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead.

What customers in Torrington are saying

Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.

Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.

It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.

Torrington dumpster rental FAQs

How fast can you deliver a dumpster to Torrington?
Pure next-day default. Torrington's ~60 minutes from West Haven via Route 8 north — at the outer band of our regular Litchfield County dispatch. Route 8 north traffic patterns and winter weather make same-day unreliable at this distance.
Can you deliver to downtown Torrington?
Yes, but street placement is common in those blocks because many tenement-style buildings have no usable private driveway. That's a Torrington Public Works Street Use Permit conversation. We don't pull permits for customers; that's an in-person trip to the city offices. The 30/40-yard tier's two-20 delivery model helps downtown — narrower 20-yard cans fit blocks where a single big can wouldn't.
What's the most common size for Torrington kitchen renos?
15-yard at $547. Torrington's older downtown housing stock (a lot pre-1940) means kitchen renos often involve plaster-and-lath wall removal — the 15's 1-ton allowance plus the volume buffer handles the mixed debris.
Do you handle multi-family turnover work in Torrington?
Yes — multi-family turnover is steady Torrington dispatch. 20-yard at $647 fits most full-unit turnovers. For multi-unit work on the same property, the 30/40-yard tier (two 20-yard cans delivered same-day to two spots) often works better.
Are there extra charges for the Torrington dispatch?
No. We don't zone-price. The 60-minute dispatch from West Haven is built into the published $447 / $547 / $647 / $899 base rates.
Can you handle winter delivery to Torrington?
We schedule next-day default. Winter dispatch can shift to next-day-plus on confirmed orders if road conditions deteriorate north of Waterbury on Route 8 — we'll call you the morning of if a storm shifts the window.
