We dispatch Old Saybrook from our West Haven yard, about 35 minutes door-to-door from our West Haven yard via I-95 east. Old Saybrook sits at the mouth of the Connecticut River — Fenwick borough (Katharine Hepburn's home), Saybrook Point's marinas, and the shoreline residential blocks make up most of our local dispatch. Weekend-home + tourist economy drives renovation prep work spring through fall, with estate cleanouts when older shore-property owners pass or sell. Over 16,000 dumpster drops and junk-removal jobs since 2014, across Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield, and Middlesex counties. This page is what I tell Old Saybrook homeowners and contractors when they call.

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Old Saybrook?

Roll-off dumpster rentals in Old Saybrook use up-front pricing. The price doesn't change between Old Saybrook Center and Chalker Beach — size sets the rate, not the address. The base rate covers delivery, pickup, dumping at a licensed transfer station, and a 7-day rental window. We don't surcharge for "longer driveways" or "harder access," and the Old Saybrook dispatch from our West Haven yard is built into the base rate, not added on top.

Four sizes cover almost every Old Saybrook project. The 10-yard runs $447, right for small bath remodels or concrete-and-dirt loads. The 15-yard runs $547, the sweet spot for single-room renovations and full garage cleanouts. The 20-yard runs $647, the most-common pick for whole-house decluttering, single-layer roof tear-offs, and contractor work. The 30/40-yard runs $899 — delivered as two 20-yard cans (same-day or swapped) for full additions, multi-room renovations, and commercial buildouts. Full pricing reference at How Pricing Works.

What size dumpster do I need for Old Saybrook projects?

Single-bath remodel: 10-yard at $447. Standard Old Saybrook bath gut.

Kitchen reno or weekend-home prep: 15-yard at $547. Most-common rental — coastal cottage kitchen renos generate steady spring + fall dispatch.

Whole-house decluttering, estate cleanout, multi-bath renovation: 20-yard at $647. Estate cleanouts at older shore properties are some of our most common 20-yard work in town.

Major contractor work, large estate cleanouts: 30/40-yard at $899. Two 20-yard cans — useful for older Fenwick estate cleanouts where a single 30 wouldn't fit on the tighter shore lots.

Where can I put a dumpster in Old Saybrook?

Saybrook Point + Fenwick borough have tighter older shore lots — some Fenwick borough cottages can't host a 20-yard cleanly. We frequently recommend the 10-yard or 15-yard for tight shore placement.

Old Saybrook Center / Main Street is the small civic-historic core; placement is mid-size standard.

Knollwood, Cornfield Point, Saybrook Manor, Chalker Beach are residential shore neighborhoods — driveways vary; some are long, some are tight beach-cottage parcels.

State route placement along US-1 (Boston Post Road), I-95 access roads, or Route 154 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead.

For lawn placement, we put planks under the wheels. Minor turf compression is normal. We don't recommend lawn drops if it's been raining — soft ground doesn't hold a loaded box. Snap a photo of the driveway entrance from the street and text it to (203) 219-8855 if you're not sure about clearance or approach.

How fast can you deliver a dumpster in Old Saybrook?

Old Saybrook is about a 35-minute run from our West Haven yard via I-95 east — closer-band Middlesex County dispatch. We run Old Saybrook jobs next-day default. Same-day is sometimes possible if you call before 9 AM and our morning I-95 east / Route 9 dispatch has capacity. Middlesex County is genuinely closer than far-NW Litchfield, but we still prefer to honestly promise next-day rather than over-commit on same-day. Delivery and pickup windows fall between 8 AM and 4 PM. Call (203) 219-8855 — live Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends.

What about the Old Saybrook Transfer Station?

Old Saybrook's transfer station is at 479 Middlesex Turnpike, open Monday 9 AM–1 PM, Thursday 9 AM–6 PM, Friday 9 AM–1 PM, Saturday 9 AM–5 PM (closed Tue/Wed/Sun) per oldsaybrookct.gov. Phone (860) 395-3187. Old Saybrook is a RiverCOG participating town for regional waste planning.

For Old Saybrook residents weighing self-haul against a Grizzly roll-off, the math runs roughly the same as in any Middlesex County town: a self-haul is your time, your truck, and the per-load fees the town sets at the gate. A 10-yard at $447 base delivered to your Old Saybrook driveway, picked up, and dumped covers everything in one shot. The roll-off wins fast for anything over a couple of pickup-truck loads.

The transfer station does not accept hazardous waste — paint, solvents, oil, pesticides, lithium batteries. Those go through CT DEEP collection days.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Old Saybrook, CT?

Private property — your driveway, your land: no permit required. Standard residential Old Saybrook rental case. Public street, sidewalk, or town right-of-way: coordinate with Old Saybrook Public Works at Town Hall per oldsaybrookct.gov; transfer station questions route through the (860) 395-3187 line. Fenwick borough has its own jurisdiction within Old Saybrook and may have additional placement considerations for borough-located properties. State route placement along US-1 or Route 154 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead.

What customers in Old Saybrook are saying

Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.

Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.

It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.
