We dispatch Canton from our West Haven yard, about 60 minutes door-to-door from our West Haven yard via I-84 west / Route 44. Canton's the small Hartford County town built around Collinsville village — a preserved 19th-century factory village along the Farmington River, anchored by the old Collins Axe Company mill complex (now mixed-use). Most of our Canton work is residential renovation in the surrounding suburban blocks; Collinsville village itself generates careful-placement historic-district work. ~60 minutes from West Haven — at the outer edge of our Hartford County dispatch. Over 16,000 dumpster drops and junk-removal jobs since 2014, across Fairfield, New Haven, and Hartford counties. This page is what I tell Canton homeowners and contractors when they call.

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Canton?

Roll-off dumpster rentals in Canton use up-front pricing. The price doesn't change between Collinsville village historic and Canton Springs — size sets the rate, not the address. The base rate covers delivery, pickup, dumping at a licensed transfer station, and a 7-day rental window. We don't surcharge for "longer driveways" or "harder access," and the Canton dispatch from our West Haven yard is built into the base rate, not added on top.

Four sizes cover almost every Canton project. The 10-yard runs $447, right for small bath remodels or concrete-and-dirt loads. The 15-yard runs $547, the sweet spot for single-room renovations and full garage cleanouts. The 20-yard runs $647, the most-common pick for whole-house decluttering, single-layer roof tear-offs, and contractor work. The 30/40-yard runs $899 — delivered as two 20-yard cans (same-day or swapped) for full additions, multi-room renovations, and commercial buildouts. Full pricing reference at How Pricing Works.

What size dumpster do I need for Canton projects?

Single-bath remodel: 10-yard at $447. Standard Canton bath gut. Collinsville village historic-district work almost always uses the 10 for its smaller footprint on tight 19th-century factory-village blocks.

Kitchen reno or single-room remodel: 15-yard at $547. The most-common Canton rental in the suburban residential blocks outside Collinsville.

Whole-house decluttering, addition framing: 20-yard at $647. Mid-size renovation work in North Canton and Cherry Brook fits this size cleanly.

Major contractor work, full additions: 30/40-yard at $899. Two 20-yard cans — useful for the rural addition projects in Canton Center and Cherry Brook where there's room for both cans.

Where can I put a dumpster in Canton?

Collinsville village historic district is the placement constraint — the 19th-century factory village blocks have tight short driveways and preservation context. We frequently recommend the 10-yard for any Collinsville renovation work; sometimes street placement is the only option, which means a Canton Public Works permit conversation.

Canton Center, North Canton, Cherry Brook, and Canton Springs are rural-residential — longer lots, plenty of driveway room, easy placement throughout.

State route placement along Route 44 (Albany Turnpike) or Route 179 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead of the town Street Use Permit.

For lawn placement, we put planks under the wheels. Minor turf compression is normal. We don't recommend lawn drops if it's been raining — soft ground doesn't hold a loaded box. Snap a photo of the driveway entrance from the street and text it to (203) 219-8855 if you're not sure about clearance or approach.

How fast can you deliver a dumpster in Canton?

Canton is about a 60-minute run from our West Haven yard via I-84 west / Route 44 — Hartford County is genuinely further than the New Haven County interior we cover same-day reliably. We run Canton jobs next-day default. Same-day is technically possible for first-thing-morning calls when our route has capacity, but we don't promise it for Canton the way we do for the towns closer to the yard. Delivery and pickup windows fall between 8 AM and 4 PM. Call (203) 219-8855 — live Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends.

What about the Canton Transfer Station?

Canton's transfer station is at 202 Ramp Road, open Tuesday–Saturday 7 AM–3:30 PM per townofcantonct.gov. Phone (860) 693-7863. Annual residential permit is $140; passes and tokens are sold through the Town Clerk's office at 4 Market Street, Collinsville. Connecticut-residents-only.

For Canton residents weighing self-haul against a Grizzly roll-off, the math runs roughly the same as in any Hartford County town: a self-haul is your time, your truck, and the per-load fees the town sets at the gate. A 10-yard at $447 base delivered to your Canton driveway, picked up, and dumped covers everything in one shot. The roll-off wins fast for anything over a couple of pickup-truck loads.

The transfer station does not accept hazardous waste — paint, solvents, oil, pesticides, lithium batteries. Those go through CT DEEP collection days.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Canton, CT?

Private property — your driveway, your land: no permit required. Standard suburban / rural Canton case. Public street, sidewalk, or town right-of-way: check with the Canton Building Department in Collinsville — Canton routes building and permit applications through the Capitol Region Council of Governments' Regional Online Permit Center (viewmypermitct.org) per the town's official site. The Town Clerk's office at 4 Market Street, Collinsville handles in-person permit questions. Collinsville historic-district placement may have additional review given the preservation context. State route placement along Route 44 or Route 179 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead.

What customers in Canton are saying

Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.

Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.

It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.
