We dispatch Farmington from our West Haven yard, about 50 minutes door-to-door from our West Haven yard via I-84 west. Farmington's split between the Farmington Village historic district (preserved 18th and 19th-century blocks along Main Street and the Farmington River) and newer suburban-affluent subdivisions in South Farmington / Farmington Woods. UConn Health Center sits on the south side, which generates regular commercial dispatch on the medical side. Easy I-84 west connection from the West Haven yard. Over 16,000 dumpster drops and junk-removal jobs since 2014, across Fairfield, New Haven, and Hartford counties. This page is what I tell Farmington homeowners and contractors when they call.

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Farmington?

Roll-off dumpster rentals in Farmington use up-front pricing. The price doesn't change between Farmington Village historic and Farmington Woods — size sets the rate, not the address. The base rate covers delivery, pickup, dumping at a licensed transfer station, and a 7-day rental window. We don't surcharge for "longer driveways" or "harder access," and the Farmington dispatch from our West Haven yard is built into the base rate, not added on top.

Four sizes cover almost every Farmington project. The 10-yard runs $447, right for small bath remodels or concrete-and-dirt loads. The 15-yard runs $547, the sweet spot for single-room renovations and full garage cleanouts. The 20-yard runs $647, the most-common pick for whole-house decluttering, single-layer roof tear-offs, and contractor work. The 30/40-yard runs $899 — delivered as two 20-yard cans (same-day or swapped) for full additions, multi-room renovations, and commercial buildouts. Full pricing reference at How Pricing Works.

What size dumpster do I need for Farmington projects?

Single-bath remodel: 10-yard at $447. Standard Farmington bath gut.

Kitchen reno or single-room remodel: 15-yard at $547. Most-common size. Farmington Village historic-district kitchen renos often involve plaster-and-lath work — the 15-yard handles the mixed heavy debris with weight buffer.

Whole-house decluttering, addition framing, basement-finish: 20-yard at $647. Mid-size suburban renovation work in South Farmington / Farmington Woods fits cleanly. Historic-district blocks sometimes can't host a 20 — call about placement first.

Major contractor work, full additions: 30/40-yard at $899. Two 20-yard cans — useful for the multi-week addition projects in Farmington Woods and the occasional UConn Health-adjacent commercial work.

Where can I put a dumpster in Farmington?

Farmington Village historic district is the placement constraint — Main Street and the streets running off it (Mountain Road, High Street, Garden Street) have tight 18th-century blocks with short and narrow driveways. We frequently recommend the 10-yard for historic-district work even when project volume would suggest a 15, because the smaller footprint fits driveways that can't host a bigger can.

South Farmington, Farmington Woods, and Mountain Spring have suburban-standard driveway depths — 15s, 20s, and even the 30/40-yard tier (as two 20s) fit without complication.

State route placement along Farmington Avenue (Route 4) or Route 6 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit if the can would sit in the state right-of-way.

For lawn placement, we put planks under the wheels. Minor turf compression is normal. We don't recommend lawn drops if it's been raining — soft ground doesn't hold a loaded box. Snap a photo of the driveway entrance from the street and text it to (203) 219-8855 if you're not sure about clearance or approach.

How fast can you deliver a dumpster in Farmington?

Farmington is about a 50-minute run from our West Haven yard via I-84 west — one of the closer-in Hartford County towns we dispatch to. We run Farmington jobs next-day default. Same-day is sometimes possible if you call before 9 AM and our morning route has capacity, but Hartford County is genuinely further than the New Haven County interior we cover same-day reliably, and we'd rather be honest about that than over-promise and miss a delivery window. Delivery and pickup windows fall between 8 AM and 4 PM — we do our best to accommodate earlier or later requests when the schedule allows. Call (203) 219-8855 — live Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends.

What about the Farmington Transfer Station?

Farmington's transfer station is at 544 New Britain Avenue, Unionville, open Monday–Friday 9 AM–noon (no holidays) per farmington-ct.org. Phone (860) 675-2550. Out-of-town property owners need to bring a copy of the Farmington tax bill if their ID doesn't show a Farmington address.

For Farmington residents weighing self-haul against a Grizzly roll-off, the math runs roughly the same as in any Hartford County town: a self-haul is your time, your truck, and the per-load fees the town sets at the gate. A 10-yard at $447 base delivered to your Farmington driveway, picked up, and dumped covers everything in one shot. The roll-off wins fast for anything over a couple of pickup-truck loads.

The transfer station does not accept hazardous waste — paint, solvents, oil, pesticides, lithium batteries. Those go through CT DEEP collection days.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Farmington, CT?

Private property — your driveway, your land: no permit required. Standard suburban Farmington rental case. Public street, sidewalk, or town right-of-way: apply through the Farmington Building Department (860) 675-2315 — Farmington issues Obstruction/Excavation Permits for ROW work per farmington-ct.org. Farmington Village historic-district placement may have additional review given the preservation context — confirm with the town before booking on properties along Main Street or near the village green. State route placement along Route 4, Route 6, or Route 10 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead.

What customers in Farmington are saying

Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.

Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.

It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.

Farmington dumpster rental FAQs

How fast can you deliver to Farmington?
Next-day default with same-day sometimes possible. Farmington's about 50 minutes from West Haven via I-84 west.
Can you deliver to Farmington Village historic district?
Yes — but placement requires careful planning given the tight 18th-century blocks. We frequently recommend the 10-yard for historic-district work even when project volume would suggest a 15. Send a photo of your driveway entrance from the street if you're not sure what'll fit.
What's the most common size in Farmington?
15-yard at $547. The mid-century and newer housing stock across South Farmington / Farmington Woods generates steady kitchen and master-bath renovation work.
Are there preservation considerations for historic-district work?
Possibly — Farmington Village's historic context can affect demolition material routing for preservation-credit purposes (some homeowners coordinate with the historical society for material salvage before demo). That's outside our scope, but we'll work with the timing if you need staged demolition for material recovery.
Do you handle UConn Health-adjacent commercial work?
Yes — commercial dispatch in South Farmington is regular. Larger commercial jobs often want the 30/40-yard tier (two 20-yard cans, same-day or swapped). We'll plan the deployment at booking.
Are there extra charges for Farmington dispatch?
No. We don't zone-price. The 50-minute dispatch from West Haven is built into the published base rates.
