We dispatch Avon from our West Haven yard, about 55 minutes door-to-door from our West Haven yard via I-91 / Route 9. Avon's affluent suburban-affluent — Heublein Tower sits at the top of Talcott Mountain on the east side of town, the residential housing stock skews newer and larger across Old Farms, Country Club, and Avon Park North, and most of our dispatches are kitchen renos or estate-style cleanouts on the higher-end builds. Over 16,000 dumpster drops and junk-removal jobs since 2014, across Fairfield, New Haven, and Hartford counties. This page is what I tell Avon homeowners and contractors when they call.

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Avon?

Roll-off dumpster rentals in Avon use up-front pricing. The price doesn't change between Avon Center and Heublein Tower base — size sets the rate, not the address. The base rate covers delivery, pickup, dumping at a licensed transfer station, and a 7-day rental window. We don't surcharge for "longer driveways" or "harder access," and the Avon dispatch from our West Haven yard is built into the base rate, not added on top.

Four sizes cover almost every Avon project. The 10-yard runs $447, right for small bath remodels or concrete-and-dirt loads. The 15-yard runs $547, the sweet spot for single-room renovations and full garage cleanouts. The 20-yard runs $647, the most-common pick for whole-house decluttering, single-layer roof tear-offs, and contractor work. The 30/40-yard runs $899 — delivered as two 20-yard cans (same-day or swapped) for full additions, multi-room renovations, and commercial buildouts. Full pricing reference at How Pricing Works.

What size dumpster do I need for Avon projects?

Single-bath remodel: 10-yard at $447. Standard Avon bath gut.

Kitchen reno or single-room remodel: 15-yard at $547. The mid-tier most-common pick. Avon's newer housing stock means kitchen demos are mostly cabinet + flooring + drywall (not plaster) — the 15 handles cleanly.

Whole-house decluttering, addition framing, large estate work: 20-yard at $647. Most-common contractor size in Avon given the larger residential footprints. Estate-style cleanouts in the Country Club and Avon Park North neighborhoods are common 20-yard work.

Major contractor work, full additions: 30/40-yard at $899. Two 20-yard cans — useful for the multi-week addition projects in Old Farms and the higher-end custom-home work.

Where can I put a dumpster in Avon?

Avon's placement math is suburban-easy across most of the town — wide driveways throughout Old Farms, Country Club, Cider Brook, and Avon Park North handle 15s, 20s, and the 30/40-yard tier (as two 20-yard cans) without complication. The newer custom-home subdivisions in the Talcott Notch area sometimes have unusually long driveways that simplify staging.

Avon Center has a small commercial/civic core with tighter blocks; otherwise placement is suburban-standard.

State route placement along Route 44 (Albany Turnpike) or Route 10 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead of the town Street Use Permit.

For lawn placement, we put planks under the wheels. Minor turf compression is normal. We don't recommend lawn drops if it's been raining — soft ground doesn't hold a loaded box. Snap a photo of the driveway entrance from the street and text it to (203) 219-8855 if you're not sure about clearance or approach.

How fast can you deliver a dumpster in Avon?

Avon is about a 55-minute run from our West Haven yard via I-91 / Route 9 — Hartford County is genuinely further than the New Haven County interior we cover same-day reliably. We run Avon jobs next-day default. Same-day is technically possible for first-thing-morning calls when our route has capacity, but we don't promise it for Avon the way we do for the towns closer to the yard. Delivery and pickup windows fall between 8 AM and 4 PM. Call (203) 219-8855 — live Mon–Fri 8 AM – 4 PM, AI assistant covers after-hours and weekends.

What about the Avon Transfer Station?

Avon's transfer station is at 281 Huckleberry Hill Road, open Tuesday and Friday 7:30 AM–2:30 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM–1 PM (closed legal holidays, Good Friday, and the Friday after Thanksgiving) per avonct.gov. Phone (860) 673-6151. Annual residential permit is $125 (senior $65, recycle-only $40); permit cycle runs through June 30, 2026.

For Avon residents weighing self-haul against a Grizzly roll-off, the math runs roughly the same as in any Hartford County town: a self-haul is your time, your truck, and the per-load fees the town sets at the gate. A 10-yard at $447 base delivered to your Avon driveway, picked up, and dumped covers everything in one shot. The roll-off wins fast for anything over a couple of pickup-truck loads.

The transfer station does not accept hazardous waste — paint, solvents, oil, pesticides, lithium batteries. Those go through CT DEEP collection days.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Avon, CT?

Private property — your driveway, your land: no permit required. That's the near-universal case in Avon given the wide suburban driveways. Public street, sidewalk, or town right-of-way: apply through Avon Public Works (860) 673-6151, 11 Arch Road — Avon's dumpster permit is $25, payable online or in person at Town Hall per avonct.gov. The street-permit case is rare in Avon — most projects fit on private property without ever touching a town right-of-way. State route placement along Route 44 or Route 10 needs a CT DOT Encroachment Permit instead.

What customers in Avon are saying

Spectacular service, even during Covid! First, a human answered their phone immediately and was clear and courteous. How rare these days! I got an appointment for next day! As promised, received a call that crew was on its way. My mother gave me last minute permission to move a fridge, not part of original request. So I had to tell the poor guys upon arrival that there was a surprise fridge move, two in fact, one removed, one moved within house. Crew didn't flinch. Then one fridge move required its doors AND house door to come off, which they achieved with impressive skill. I'm a manager in my work life and can say their professionalism was superb. Also, important for environment, the company claims to recycle materials. A+ on every level.

Amazing experience! I would definitely hire them again! Every interaction with this company, from setting up the appointment with Justin, and then having to move it up, because my long distance home movers moved up their delivery day at the last minute, and to the appointment itself, has been a wonderful, and positive experience. When we had to change my delivery window at the last minute, Justin was incredibly helpful and accommodating. And the amazing movers, Eric and Mike, "Big Mike", were so wonderful, professional, helpful, kind, and did excellent work.

It's spring cleaning time! Who am I going to call? the same great company I called 3 times before...grizzly junk pros! I have found these guys to be experts in moving large bulky items. They are hard workers, honest, fair and extremely efficient. I won't take a chance on any other company because I know what to expect from this one. They've done my cellar, things inside the house and now will call them for cleaning out the attic. The areas I've called them for aren't easy to maneuver in...amazing how they adapt to the job at hand.

Avon dumpster rental FAQs

How fast can you deliver to Avon?
Next-day default. Avon's about 55 minutes from West Haven via I-91 north and Route 9 — at the edge of our easy-dispatch Hartford County set. Same-day is technically possible for first-thing-morning calls but we don't promise it.
What's the most common size in Avon?
20-yard at $647. Avon's larger residential footprints generate more whole-house and estate-style work than the tighter neighboring towns; the 20 handles mid-size cleanouts and addition work cleanly.
Do you handle Country Club estate cleanouts?
Yes — Country Club and Avon Park North are some of our most-common Avon 20-yard work. For larger estates with multi-decade contents, the 30/40-yard tier (two 20-yard cans, swapped as the project progresses) usually works better than a single big can.
Can you handle the Talcott Notch custom-home dispatches?
Yes — the longer driveways in the Talcott Notch subdivisions simplify staging. We can deliver the 30/40-yard tier (two 20s) with the cans staged at opposite ends of the driveway for easier loading flow on bigger projects.
Are there extra charges for Avon dispatch?
No. We don't zone-price. The 55-minute dispatch from West Haven is built into the published $447 / $547 / $647 / $899 base rates.
Do I need a permit for my Avon driveway dumpster?
No, not for private property. Avon's wide suburban driveways mean street placement is rare; when it does come up it's a coordination conversation with Avon Public Works for a Street Use Permit.
